Denis Walsh is a midwifery researcher, lecturer, author and a practising midwife. He is currently a Reader in Normal Birth at the University of Central Lancashire and and Independent Midwifery Consultant. He has lectured widely throughout the Europe, Australia and New Zealand and is a frequent contributor to childbirth journals. He is a regular author of the Birthwrite Column in the British Journal of Midwifery. Last year (2006) he published his first book: Improving Maternity Services. Small if Beautiful: Lessons from a Birth Centre. Available through Amazon or Radcliffe Publishing. His second book, Evidence-Based Care for Normal Labour & Birth: A Guide for Midwives, was published by Routledge in 2007 and is already a best seller. See Amazon for reviews.
